A visa is required to go to Burkina and the passport must be valid at least 6 months after planned departure date. You will get a 4 month visa with a choice of single or multiple entry. Please see the Burkina Faso embassy in your country for a visa.

Medical precautions
|
To visit Burkina, you must be vaccinated against Yellow Fever. You will be asked for you vaccination card at the airport.
In addition, it is advised to have the following vaccinations:
- DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio)
- Typhoid Fever (for a stay longer than 3 months)
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Meningitis
- Cholera
You will also need anti-malarial drugs. You can contact your doctor or consult the web site of the French Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

|
Burkina is one hour later than Paris in winter and 2 hours later in the summer
Burkina is in the Greenwich meantime zone.

| Money |
|
The currency is the CFA Franc (FCFA :Franc de la communauté financière africaine). In Ouagadougou and in some other large towns, there are banks with ATMs where you can withdraw money using your VISA card. 1 Euro = about 655 FCFA. The FCFA cannot be found outside the FCFA zone and cannot be exchanged back once you leave the zone.
Only a few large hotels and speciality shops accept credit cards as payment. Tropic Voyage accepts payment with VISA card

| Climate |
Burkina is located near the equator and has two distinct seasons: the dry season from November to May and the rainy season from June through October. The tourist season goes from November through March during which the climate is dry and pleasant with a temperature often between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius during the day.

|
The normal electricity is 220 volts and the plugs are the same as those found in France.
|

There are internet cafés in all the large towns in Burkina.
