The Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (Le Festival Panafricain du Cinéma et de la Télévision de Ouagadougou – FESPACO) is the largest film event on the African Continent. FESPACO was created in 1969 in Ouagadougou by a group of film advocates. The Festival was met with such public enthusiasm, it was institutionalized in 1972.
After the 6th FESPACO, it became bi-annual, beginning the last Saturday of February of each odd numbered year.
The 21st FESPACO will take place from February 28 through March 7, 2009.
